I’m incredibly pleased that I’m going to be Poet in Residence at StAnza 2018. I didn’t expect to get an opportunity like that.
I’m very much looking forward to it. I’ll learn a lot, I’m certain, and I’ll make new friends and conncections. And I’m incredibly proud that I’m getting support from the Edwin Morgan Trust.
What does a Poet in Residence do though? I don’t have any particular event to deliver. I’ll definitely go to readings and other events. I’ll write.
But I’ve got something else in my mind. The one time that I was previously in St Andrews I swam in the Castle Rock Pool, and I’m planning to do that again each morning I’m in the town. I’ll read from any work I do during the festival, and I’ll give a warm welcome to anyone else who wants to come along to read, listen and – especially – to swim!
